Guild, Tenn. – A joint investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office has led to the arrest of Cary Paradis for possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl with intent to distribute.
During the investigation, it was learned that Paradis picked up a large amount of methamphetamine in Atlanta, Georgia and intended to deliver over one pound of it to Guild, Tennessee. When Paradis arrived in Guild, he was intercepted and arrested by several Law Enforcement agencies. Law Enforcement then went and conducted a search of a hotel room that Paradis had rented and located an additional 14 pounds of methamphetamine along with 5 ounces of fentanyl. Paradis, a four-time convicted drug felon, appeared before Marion County General Sessions Judge Mark Raines and bond was set at $500,000.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and Jasper Police Department also provided assistance with this investigation.
Marion County Sheriff Bo Burnett stated, “This joint investigation has helped to shut down a major supplier of methamphetamine that was supplying
large amounts of methamphetamine to Marion and Sequatchie Counties which was coming straight from Mexican Drug Cartels.
Sheriff Burnett recently met with United States Senator Marsha Blackburn where this case was discussed. Sheriff Burnett stressed to Senator Blackburn the need for the federal government to act in order to cut off the flow of drugs coming from the southern border.
